Clocktower Coffee Roasting Company sits quietly on a corner of Mountain View’s East Middlefield Road, offering more than just your everyday cup of coffee. This is a café built around the craft of coffee roasting, where the smell of fresh beans roasting fills the air and draws in a steady stream of regulars and curious passersby alike.

The atmosphere inside leans toward calm and purposeful, with a spacious area dedicated to working or studying – a clear nod to the neighborhood’s tech crowd and remote workers. Expect a clean, friendly environment where you can settle in with your laptop, sip thoughtfully crafted espresso, or try something a little different like their Zebra Cold Brew Latte or the rather unique Spring Lavender Latte. The seating is somewhat limited, so mornings and early afternoons are the best times to secure a spot without feeling rushed.

Local coffee enthusiasts appreciate Clocktower’s commitment to daily or every-other-day roasting, which means the beans maintain their freshness and complexity. The owner’s passion for roasting is evident not just in the aroma, but in the quality of their drip coffees and cold brews – particularly the Brazil drip that regulars swear by. For those who enjoy a flavored coffee, the menu offers a range of options from butterscotch and caramel pecan lattes to more seasonal selections like pumpkin spice white mocha, catering well to those looking for a sweet or creative twist.

Beyond coffee, the café’s selection of pastries and light bites pairs well with the drinks. The sesame bagel with cream cheese, almond croissant, and various muffins offer a satisfying complement to your brew without overwhelming the palate.

One subtle but practical perk is the location’s place within a quiet, walkable neighborhood with an EV charging station nearby – a detail that resonates with eco-conscious visitors. The café also features a small micro-market area with souvenirs, adding a community feel that makes it more than just a grab-and-go stop.

Clocktower Coffee Roasting Company is best suited for anyone who values fresh, thoughtfully roasted coffee, a relaxed vibe to work or chat, and a sense of connection to local coffee culture. Whether you’re a regular stocking up on beans for home or someone dropping in to enjoy a unique latte, this spot rewards the visitor looking for a calm, quality-driven coffee experience away from bigger commercial chains.

This review is about the coffee only. I come here every single day, and get either the Brazil drip coffee or a cold brew. I also get coffee for the house. The coffee beans are fresh roasted every day/every other day. The whole shop always smells like freshly roasted coffee. I’ve talked to the owner, and he’s very knowledgeable and passionate about the whole roasting and brewing process. This shop started out in 1998, and has been going strong ever since. He’s shown me the massive water filter that leads to pure water being used, which makes the coffee taste and smell only like coffee. Fantastic coffee shop overall. I appreciate the frequency of daily roasting which keeps coffee fresh, and the overall friendly vibe and family like atmosphere of the shop. I highly recommend the drip or cold brew. My one complaint is there’s very few mugs and cups, mostly everything is TOGO. I find that hot water into a TOGO cup messes up the flavor and gives me a stomach ache, and I find real mugs and glasses are part of a nice coffee shop vibe. So I’d recommend to bring your own water bottle. I also don’t like the fact that the surrounding is a parking lot, but that complaint maps more to American Suburbia and isn’t specific to this coffee shop. The coffee is so good though that this small complaint doesn’t change my five star rating.

Espresso Quality: The espresso at Clock Tower Coffee is decent. It's a well-made shot that satisfies the coffee craving. Scenery and Ambiance: A major highlight of this cafe is the nice scenery and ambiance. It's a very pleasant and relaxing setting to enjoy a drink. Study/Work Area: The café offers a big area specifically for working or studying. This is a great feature for students, remote workers, or anyone needing space to focus. Overall Impression: Clock Tower Coffee is a solid choice, especially if you're looking for a great atmosphere and a dedicated space to work or study. The decent espresso combined with the excellent setting makes it a highly recommended spot.

A great place to catch up with coffee. I love their ambience and their service is quick and friendly. They have a micro market setup with plenty of souvenirs. I got the caramel macchiato and it was perfect and refreshing.

CCRC is a quiet, under the radar coffee place in a very nice neighborhood. The coffee selection is not as diverse as Starbucks but has many unique flavors like "Spring Lavender Latte". Pros: - Large selection of coffee, tea and pastries. - Great location, the neighborhood is good to walk around. - EV charging in the same campus. Cons: - Coffee was not very hot. - Limited seating, the place can get very crowded at times.

We found Clocktower Coffee Roasting by accident and decided to buy some beans. A nice touch was being offered an additional coffee to go with the purchase. A first and lovely gesture, thank you! We purchased the espresso beans and enjoyed our first coffee with them this morning.

Best cold brew in town! I come here almost every day for my cold brews. The staff know my order as a regular and are always very friendly. On busy days like Fridays you might have a hard time finding seating, but overall it is a great cafe— clean and tidy. The only thing I would say needs improvement is how the cashiers are trained on the till, because my cold brew appears to change in price every time I go (50c to $1 differences) based on how they add the Oat Milk to the order. Despite this, I still recommend the cold brew to all my friends! Nowhere else does it better IMO!
